This is the story of a young teenage boy named Draike Shadayo. In this story you will find that he has lived through much and has changed throughout the years. Well I didn't want to type this again cause I have typed it once already I wanted to copy and paste it, so here goes nothing . . . again.

The boy walked through the village slowly noticing that the villagers were looking at him in an odd way almost as if he was not human . . . he wasn't human. As he walked farther he walked up to a scrawny old man in the middle of the street. "Excuse me sir, have you heard any rumors from the neighboring villages?" The man simply looked at him with fear and turned to run toward a small wooden shack with broken windows. "Of course, they must have heard of my past. It was only months ago after all."

A young boy of only 13 woke up one morning and walking into the kitchen of his small stick-made shack. "'Morning mom, what's for breakfast?" His mom did not look in his direction and answered "Porridge . . .unless you can get me some eggs from the forest." The boy didn't answer, he merely ran out the front door throwing on his coat and sprinting into the nearby forest, leaving his village far behind. About thirty minutes later he came across a cave he had never seen before and out of curiosity walked inside for a closer look. As he set foot inside he thought he had seen a large creature but he looked closer and noticed it was just a shadow. "Hmm . . ." He walked about a hundred yards inside and ran into a wall. "Well I guess that’s the end of my adventure..." he turned and began walking back out but as soon as his foot hit the grass outside the cave he felt something hit him hard on the shoulder so turning around he saw the large creature towering above him and tried to turn and run but the creature lunged at him knocking him into a close-by tree. Minutes later he woke and the creature was nowhere to be seen. He got up groaning in pain feeling a large gash on his back, "It must be from hitting the tree," he thought. He had completely forgotten the eggs and began running home to tell his mom of the large shadowy creature that had attacked him.

Weeks later he walked into his bathroom and looked at the dirt-stained mirror looking at the large scab covering the length of his back. Sighing, he looked at it one last time before turning to leave the room. Suddenly he noticed a movement on the floor and looked down to notice that his shadow was moving without him. At first it was small movements, then it gradually started to lift off the floor and changed into a long skinny shadow about the size of the scab on his back. In amazement he watched as it landed on his back covering the scab and then falling back to the floor leaving nothing on his back, not even a scar.

* * *

"That is when it first began,” he thought to himself as he stood in the middle of the town square. "That is where I met HIM, Yano." He frowned as he remembered the man. He raised his hand to his eyes and made a sign against his face, "To Yano even in death may he be triumphant."

* * *

He turned looking away in fear and astonishment and began to sprint down the short hallway toward the kitchen where his mother was cooking more porridge, "Mom! Mom!" His mother turned around looking away from the man standing beside her, "What is it Draike?!?" He stopped in his tracks as he felt a horrible surge of pain go down the middle of his back. "Mom, who is that?" He winced as the pain got worse and worse making him want to scream in pain but he held it back with a swallow of the saliva in the back of his throat. The man smiled almost demonized look in his eyes, "Hello Draike. My name is Yano. Your mother called me and told me that you were attacked by some kind of large black beast a few weeks ago. Is this true?" Draike felt as though the man in his kitchen was not a man, but something more . . .dark. Remembering the shadow earlier he said nothing and busted out of the front door, sprinting toward the forest.
